Accomodations and Meals

Accommodations are located about a 5 - 10 minute walk up from the studio at Tampopo House, which is a large longhouse style pension. The main part of the house is a large/long multi purpose room for gathering, with separate kitchen, western style toilets, and communal shower/bath. There is also a large deck and outdoor area suitable for grilling, etc... Funatsu san, the proprietor also has quite a bit of musical equipment, speakers, amps and mics, etc... so if you'd like to bring your own music, in the form of cd or live, I'm sure it would make for some lively evenings.

Breakfasts and dinners will be prepared at Tampopo House, and are included in the workshop fees. Participants will share in food prep and cleanup. Lunches will be prepared at the kiln site or Tampopo House on building days, at restaurants on non-building days.

A group dinner is planned for the last night of the workshop at Hisago, a excellent little restaurant known for its wonderful food served on ware personally selected by the owner, Maeda san. There is no menu at Hisago. Maeda san plans his menu each day based on the freshest ingredients he can find at the markets. Hisago has previously been featured in Gourmet magazine.

Anyone with special dietary needs should contact me regarding them so that I can provision accordingly.
